Don’t really have an auto immune disease but, I do have chronic TMD and possible Eustachian Tube Dysfunction(caused by the TMD because it ALWAYS effects my ears.) I get headaches often but not always and dizzy spells when I try to do too much. I have a horrible gag reflex that finds a way to slow me down almost every day and every now and then my legs get weird pains that make it hard to walk. All my disorders are invisible and I realize it could always be worse but, I think people need to realize that just because someone parks in a handicap spot and is young and looks fine when they get out of the car, doesn’t mean they are. You don’t have to have a damn limp or visible handicap to have a handicap and you shouldn’t have to prove yourself when you get out of a car just because you are young.
All I know is people need to wake up and realize that being handicap isn’t fun. Just because you get to park closer doesn’t mean life is easier. It just takes a tiny bit of the pressure off from going places. Yes, I take the elevator at school, yes, I sometimes park in the handicap when I don’t need too but, I never know when my ick is going to come a creeping and thats not fun because it usually hits me on my BUSIEST DAYS.
So just be aware next time you are quick to judge someone who has a Handicap just because it isn’t visible. You’d be amazed how many people go through HELL inside their bodies because it never shows on the outside. We don’t look like zombies and most of us don’t let our internal stuff slow us down because the truth is, its not like a cold. We can’t lay around and wait to feel better because our lives will fade away. We have to get our butts out of bed and live with the rest of the world, no matter how horrible we feel. And thats the truth, so don’t take your health for granted if you feel pretty good. Just BE AWARE.
